Dorian was born during the war for Greensgate, with his mother dying in childbirth. He was sickly for much of his childhood, requiring him to be kept separated from others and bedridden for long periods of time. His elder sister, Moria, tended to him during these times; a difficult task, as she was also expected to take over as head of the family with the passing of their mother. As he grew, Dorian's constitution improved, and he was able to undertake intense study so that he may one day repay his sister's efforts.

As the scion of one of the noble houses of Greensgate, Dorian had access to the best tutors, and pushed himself constantly to improve his understanding of the world. He took a particular interest in medicine, as the field was one of the few subjects he considered to be almost inherently good for society.

Dorian's birth was seen as a bad omen, a damning confirmation of the Del'Amore Family Curse. It started small, with the usual murmurs surrounding the circumstances of his birth, and with every disappearance or illness that occurred near the Del'Amore Manor, the townspeople became slowly more convinced that their woes were brought on by Dorian's presence. Sensing the public perception shifting from subconscious suspicion towards conscious vilification, Moria met with Dorian to discuss their options. As was the way with superstition, it was only a matter of time before the townsfolk gathered enough “evidence” against Dorian to begin causing trouble. Reluctantly, Dorian understood his options meant that, for the sake of his family and the city, he had to leave Greensgate. Officially, his departure was for a pilgrimage, but it allowed him to disappear on the road. In the years following his “exile”, Dorian got by as a doctor, plying his medical knowledge and magics as a traveling healer under various pseudonyms.
