The Del'Amore's, along with Zarn and Xander, arrive at Moria's wing to check in before the journey ahead. Noticing a pair of orcs and a woman with a baby, they are informed and taken aback by the fact that these will be some of their traveling compatriots: Avery, Anslem (the infant), Zaya, and Aldric. A sudden knock on the door led to the reveal of a small goblin named Spud who was promptly accepted on the journey as well by Tim. The group started out and took some time on the road, mostly uneventful, just getting acquainted with everyone and keeping out of harms way. Arriving to pick up some farmers along the way, and finally making their way to the site. While the rest of the group managed the initial settlement and resources, Tim and Spud. who had accompanied their miner, Gerrie, decided to investigate the mines. Within they discovered a horrifying creature and swiftly fled the mines only to lead it outside. A combat ensued where three of the creatures were dispatched. At the end of the bloodshed, a terrifying bat-like creature made an appearance and dragged one of the bodies back into the cave, leaving the party just a tad bit worried.

Jesua (Dorian)

Coming home after so long away should be a joyous occasion. Unsurprisingly, being called back to participate in an expedition west, into the once Forest-claimed lands of Fool's Pass, put a bit of a damper on things. But Moria needed my help, and it wouldn't do to leave her with even more trouble to deal with. As was the way of these sorts of things, our dangerous venture hit on several snags before we even got through the gates of the city. The Bellerose estate was helping us fund this journey, and said help came with some strings. Or, at least, one very tenuous, high-elf-with-a-baby-shaped string. Avery was to be hidden and kept under our protection, though what dangers she could have after her that rivaled bringing herself and her very young child out to a Forest frontier were left unsaid. Not that we didn't ask, but I trust my sister to have considered this well before our group was gathered. A high elf of her young age, already with a child? I'll need to keep a close eye to ensure those two are in good health.

Then, because no trip home is complete without the other heads of the Council doing something entirely absurd, it was brought to our attention that the whole of the Batu tribe would be joining us. Good news, since they are a solid and reliable group that I'd had the pleasure of working with before back when I first left Greensgate. Bad news, there were only two of them, as the Council saw fit to wipe them out to turn their sacred lands into farms for the city. Moria had been unable to stop them, apparently, and now I was left with two refugees that had every reason to curse the air we breathed. Zaya, while elderly, is a tough old bird, and quite strong in the ways that matter. Aldric, on the other hand, is young, and already the sort to be inclined towards the fire that youth lights easily. In any other situation I would be glad to see him in good health, but given the circumstances I expect he'd like to see far less of us than he will on this venture. I'll need to keep an eye out for his well-being, likely more than I will Zaya's.

I took the time to give each person in our caravan a quick check-up to ensure they were all in well-enough health to travel, or at least that we would have the appropriate resources to address their needs. Most were fine, though several were annoyingly reluctant to cooperate. Weber seems the jolly sort, with a loud voice to match their personality. Also likes to wear a mask and refuse medical attention. Yet another potential problem patient to watch out for. Then there's our head miner, Gerrie. Suffers from a condition where she can't feel anything. Literally anything, apparently even emotions. No doubt I'll be kept worrying enough for the both of us, the last thing we need is for her to walk around with some monster latched to her arm because she can't feel the pain and can't be worried enough to seek help. Another eye out on that one.

I'm going to need to see if Lucretia can make some extra eyes for me.

Ben (Zarn)

We began inside Moria’s office at Greensgate. There we were introduced to several people that would be joining us in our mission to establish a new city on the other side of the island. Avery and her child were assigned to Tim as she had some skills with numbers and writing, and two half orcs Aldric and Zaya Batu will be joining us as well. Our planning was interrupted by an entrance by Spud, who took an immediate liking to Tim and wished to join in on our quest. Dorian challenged her loyalty and asked her to allow a test to be done on her. Zarn stepped forward and cast Detect Thoughts on her. At first there was a burst of pain and noise that Zarn could not identify, but afterwards he saw the innocent motivations of a brave young warrior. With that out of the way the group began traveling to their destination, Fools pass. Upon arrival the group started to settle in. Tim met Gerrie and went down into the mine in order to check its conditions. They ran across some kind of humanoid abomination known as a Lost Miner and ran out, alerting the rest of the group to the danger. We all came down and waited for the monsters to emerge. 3 did and were summarily dispatched. Upon finishing them a large bat creature the size of a large dog ran out of the tunnel, grabbed one of the dead Lost Miners and dragged it back into the cave.
